Name that slant!

Unknown original car, got it for the price of picking it up. Was going to throw a fresh oil pan gasket, freeze plugs and valve cover gasket on a see what she does. Only issue is the engine ID numbers confuse me a bit.

Can someone post a good link to the ID numbers for this stuff? Everything seems a bit cryptic or the links have expired when i do a basic search. Everything works out, we'll drive this motor 200+ miles to Vegas, auto cross it all weekend and drive it back!
Thanks in advance!

Engine ID numbers, especially in the later years, often deviate substantially from what's in the parts book "How to ID the engine" section. This looks like a 1986-model 225 built at Trenton Engine Plant on the 2nd line, on May 20, 1986.

But I could be wrong.

Hard to see in the picture, but does it have non-adjustable rockers on it? That would tend to support Dan's theory.

Or, Dan could still be right and someone has changed the head/valvetrain. :D

Sorry, I'm not a numbers guy. The only ones that matter to me are the ones on the bills and timeslips.

Rockers are adjustable, non-locknut type. Should I go ahead and pull the head to check the lifter type?
Given the head cast number and the stamp, assuming the 6 before the 225, is it possible that this is a 1976 225, vice an 1986?
