My 1965 Dart GT has a rubbing problem with the front of the oil pan on the rear of the K member.

The engine block in not original. It has casting number 2806830.

Unable to resolve if the oil pan configuration is different or if the engine mounts provide a small differential. The mounts on the car when purchased were correct for a 1965 vintage with the extended flange/tab on the driver side.

Any suggestions to the cause and cure?

The rubbing is not SEVERE but it made a noticable paint scrape and I don't want to suffer a damaged pan after just rebuilding the engine. I do have 3 spare oil pans for use/comparison but the all look basically the same dimension.

It sounds like the engine may have been replaced, with a one from a later year. The oil pan changed between 1966 and 1967. You need a oil pan and oil pickup tube from a 66 or earlier "A" body.

The 60 - 66 A-Body pan has a sump that is shifted rearward, this pan's sump starts at about the 3rd bolt hole back. (not counting the front row of bolt holes, for the timing cover)
The 67 and up SL6 oil pans have the sump starting at the 2nd bolt hole.

Thanks for the great info and images.

Luckily I have 3 other engines to find the correct oil pick-up.

Wondering if there is any pan interference when using a later pan with a V8 center link on the early A?

It is not the center link that hits, it is the "K" member.
