I am looking for the bolts that hold the ring gear to the carrier. (This is for a 7 1/4 rear) I bought a set about 20 years ago, part number 04131255. IIRC, this part number also works on a first generation Durango. I went to my Dodge dealer to get another set. They said the current part number is 1-04443158. I ordered a set but the bolts look different. The original bolts have a low-profile head - like flywheel bolts. The new set has a much taller head. There is not a lot of clearance inside the rear so I am not sure if the new set will work. Before I remove the cover and drain the diff, does anyone know if the new-style bolt will work in my rear? |

Cant answer the direct question but if you have a decent belt sander ya might shorten the head height that way...(going slow of course, to not build a lot of heat) But maybe someone else will have a definitive answer for you. |
