Since Midi's meet got cancelled, and since a number of folks on the board were planning on attending, I am offering this possible alternative meet location in Western Washington on the same date:

(I posted this info in Midi's thread, but I thought a new post might get more attention)

If people are REALLY interested, I can try and rent either the Fircrest City Park Pavillion or the Whittier Park here in Fircrest for Sunday August 5.

The Fircrest Park has a pavillion we could rent, a play area for kids and spouses, the Fircrest Pool is right close, but there isn't really a parking area for a car show. Here is an aerial shot of Fircrest Park (471 Electron Way, Fircrest, WA 98466):

Whittier park doesn't have a pavillion, but it has tennis courts(!) and supposedly has some kind of shelter, and we would have a parking area to set up a little car show.

Here is an aerial shot of Whittier Park (901 Contra Costa Ave, Fircrest, WA 98466):

Rent is fairly cheap for either location, but I think Whittier park would be a better choice since this is a car show. There could be a grille for food set up at either location.

I would need to know fast if people want to do this because the City needs two weeks to process a rental request.

So, what do you all think? I wouldn't be able to put together grab bags like Jack Poehler did at the old SSCOA meets, but it would be fun to get together and BS with other slant six fans. We could also print out SS.ORG awards and have mini-judging like used to happen at SSCOA meets, if folks were interested.

Let me know. I can post ground-level pictures of both facilities and check on the availability of things like bathrooms. Both parks are easy to get to from Highway 16, and aren't too far form I-5.
