I'd like to know if there are headers being used on slant 6's that are designed to scavenge the way some V-8 headers are built (as in 180 degree or other separations that have been used). Doing so with a V-8 can show some pretty dramatic gains as well as completely changing the sound of the engine. Has their been experimentation in that way with 6 cylinder engines?

I also would like some opinions on the headers that are on the market as to what are seen as the better designs in terms of performance gains and street use. Cost-wise the Clifford headers appears to be the less expensive on the market but I don't know anything about them.

Thanks much,

- EM

Need more info from you -- a lot more. What kind of car do you have (year, model)? What engine and transmission does it have? What rear axle ratio? What modifications have been made/will be made? What do you mean by "street" driving? (around town? On the highway? Both? Anticipated speeds?) What are your priorities...better gas mileage, better driveability? Fast quarter-mile times on the weekends? Snappy exhaust sound?

(When people ask a question that includes "on the street" and "headers", my first instinct is to point them at Dutra Duals.)

I'm not sure this has been researched in depth. I believe the earlier Clifford long tube headers were better with scavenging than the currently available shorty headers. 28-34" primary pipes are supposed to be the best on these engines for power all around.

The new Aussiespeed headers look REALLY nice, but are more expensive. I have seen them in person running on Dave Mueller's low 13 sec 69 Valiant.

Now that I look at this, they do not appear to fit "early" A-bodies. That is a bummer.
