Just bought a 1974 Dart Swinger. The AC parts where removed from the engine when the previous owner repowered. What do I need to do to make the heat, defrost and vent work? All my other Darts have been non AC with the little doors under the dash you can open.
Help, I have moved into uncharted territory.

Do you want to get the A/C working?
To get the heat/vent/defrost working, just make sure all the vacumm lines are hooked up (correctly), and hook up the heater hoses. All this assumes the control head is good, along with the vacumm motors on the heater/ AC case.

Follow Charlie's advice & you should get heat/ defrost working. There are (were) 2 vacuum lines going eng bay to HVAC- one is a supply hose to the control head (you need it) other goes to heater shut-off valve for "max" AC (plug it). You might need a handheld vac pump to check hoses & servos for leaks & test functions. If control valve or servos are bad then you might want to look into aftermarket systems- good replacemant parts for OE system can be hard to find (AFAIK non-AC heater system would take quite a bit of work to fit in AC car)

One thing, my 75 Dart had AC & vent airflow was BAD- very weak esp compared to older A-body with vent doors & vent windows.
