At Charrlie_S' recommendation, I am inquiring about thoughts for new product development for the Slants. The reason im asking is because I just recently acquired an aluminum foundry that was shutting its doors after almost 60 years in business. Also, prior to this, in this past December, I also bought out a racing aluminum cylinder head manufacturer that was specializing in some inline 4 and 6 cylinders of another brand for the Midget racing crowd, and along with that acquired all the casting patterns to produce their cylinder heads, valve covers, timing covers, a mechanical fuel injection intake manifold and a carbed intake manifold as well as patterns for a race block. So, I am seeing tremendous crossover potential to offer from concept to finished product, almost anything within reason for the Slant's.

So, with the exception of a DOHC, 4 valve aluminum head, what else could be put onto the drawing board for the Slant.

Aluminum intake manifolds with fuel injection bosses cast in place

Aluminum pieces for the Dart Lite and Feather Duster (yeah, I know its not going to happen)

HEI module and coil mounts

A/C brackets for later style compressors (also small enough to fit in a van) Get with Charlie S on this one

Rear window louvers

Interior bits- Instrument cluster housing for aftermarket gauges for the late A bodies, door handles, window cranks

Hmmmm;
Limited casting of aluminum trans adapters/bell housings?

A "shorty" tail shaft housing for the A904?

Modified oil pump housings? (I'm thinking along the lines of the right-drive Aussie oil pump.)

Water pump adapter/housing that would accept a B/RB water pump? New/rebuilt water pump availability is, or will start getting less and less. After all, this engine really isn't the most popular one around.

Something new and different for a valve cover?

"Hats" or pressure boxes for turbo/blower applications?

There's a number of possibilities for a foundry, if one wanted to persue it. Trim pieces for older cars that were originally pot-cast, you could now cast in AL. The buyer could then go to the trouble of having it plated.

Just a few idears tossed out for the fun of it.

Roger

Sell shares and make it a slant six community owned foundry. Get a board of directors who would vote on product development and funding and raise funds for the projects form the slant six community. Stockholders could get cash dividends or trade their dividend for a discount on parts.

All great ideas, and would be easy on the pocketbook as well!

As for the rear cover, what were you thinking....fins or plain that could be polished, built in cap girdle....? Need a cover to get dimensions from.....anyone!

What kind of intakes, 2 bbl, 4 bbl, or long tubular plenum with short runners and throttle body at the front of plenum....

What parts for the Dart Lite and Feather Duster?

Congrats on your exciting purchases/acquisitions! Sounds like a new frontier is ahead of you, and you will have a lot of sound decisions to make.

I have plenty of ideas for parts, and can give you an idea of what would likely sell from the long list people have made here. Hope to see you at the banquet and we can bounce ideas around in real time! Feel free to call me too.

Lou
