I've read posts on here that state official Chrysler-supplied A/C for 1961 was the York compressor setup, with some kind of unusual compressor mounting bracketry.

I would love to see photos of anyone's 1961 Valiant or Lancer (or Dart, if applicable) with these engine A/C parts. I would also love to see the interior evaporator unit for 1961. I have no idea what it looked like.

Does anyone have a 1961 Valiant, Lancer or Dart with A/C?

I found this image online. I haven't seen one of these Cool Aire evaporator boxes before. Click on the photo for a bigger image. So I guess I partially answered my own question. I would still love to see the compressor setup if anyone owns a 61 with A/C.

Thanks Danarchy. I have one of those as well. Probably the nicest-looking design out of all the years for the Cool Aire evaporator boxes, with the most integration of pushbutton controls into the unit. I remember discovering there was a light bulb behind behind the square center console "Cool Aire by Chrysler" logo, and after replacing it, being quite thrilled when it glowed green. But I also remember being surprised that it didn't alight when you turned on the headlights. It only activates when you hit "High, Med, or Low" on the unit. The unit in '63 has the pushbuttons aligned far left, but there is no light behind the controls, just a painted bezel.

'61? Anyone?
