Hello, all.

I hate that my first post on here is one begging for help, but I guess that is how it has to be.Here is my problem, I hope someone can help me out a bit:
I just converted my '65 Dart /6 to electronic ignition. Prior to the change, it seemed to run pretty strong, but now I am having major probs. I set the distributor back in with the rotor pointing at #1 after finding TDC, but the car starts sporadically and almost never without spitting back through the carb in some way. I have a lot of experience with sb Mopars, and have NEVER had so much trouble getting a car to start smoothly. I am sure part of my problem is the new Carter 1BBL carb, which I am still trying to dial in, as there were no fine tuning instructions included with the carb. I just want to be able to start it again without probs, and keep it running, like it did before. I am using a brand new electronic dist, chrome control box, and a MP wiring loom on a '65 /6 with new carb, plugs, wires, cap, and rotors.

Thanks,

Steve Martin

I am guessing it is one of these things:

- timing way off (off a gear tooth on dist shaft).
- you have the inductive pickup wires to the dist reversed (I did this once)
- you need to replace your voltage regulator with a newer transistorized one to power the ECU propoerly (most replacement VRs are this style now).

Happy hunting,

Lou

Well, I think I managed the problem, and I feel like quite the airhead for not recognizing the PROBLEMS earlier. I appreciate the help I did receive, though, and I hope that I can pass some info on at some time, as I learn more about the /6 in my restification project '65 Dart.
