You should have a black wire coming from the points in the dist to the neg side on the coil. The positive side of the coil has a blue wire that goes into a harness that leads to one side of the ballast resistor over by the brake master cylinder. Make sure you still have a condenser mouted under the cap next to the points. The condenser thing on the coil mounting bracket is a noise suppessor for the radio.
If you appear to have some wiring problems, get a Haynes #234 repair manual. It has a few wiring diagrams in it along with info to fix most anything on your '67 or '68 Dart. '68s have side marker lights, the VIN# is on the dash and the 6th character in the VIN# will be 7 or 8 for the model year.
There are several ways to convert to an electronic ignition, I prefer using all Mopar parts. Needed is a rebuilt dist $45, wire harness and instruction sheet from Mopar Performance $20 and an orange ECU $35 or chrome ECU $55.
