That is not advisable pull valves keeping in order for reinstallation. Way too easy to clean head after cutting.

I had a head off the engine. Called the machine shop to see if I get it to them on Monday afternoon, if I could get it back by Fri, cut .100. Shop told me if I got it to them in an hour, I could have it back the same day. Took the the complete assembled head, except for removeing the bottom row of manifold studs. When I got the head home, I totally disassembled it for a good cleaning.

I had mine done fully assembled. When it was done I took it home and washed it with solvent and blew it out really well. No issues. :D

I find taking things apart to inspect their condition and wear patterns is invaluable in learning about my engine. A valve spring compressor isn't an expensive tool, so I'd suggest disassembling it before you take it in just for the sake of learning. Then you can clean off any buildup on the valves and seats as well.

Good time to break this out, diy valve seat scraper. Carbide cutting tip brazed into an old valve, insert, chuck in cordless drill and use low speed and cutting oil.
