OK, so I've been talking to various racers about the diameter of the OP drive gear shaft. We're trying to find a happy spot for an interference gear.

I measured the Melling pump I picked up from a group buy a few years ago.

It measured .4850" with my dial calipers. I decided that I needed to be a bit more accurate to make sure. I broke out my micrometers, calibrated them to the appropiate standard, and got .4850" which makes me feel really good about my dial calipers!

The .500 gear from a distributor will not work.

What is the small diameter gear for the SBC? how many teeth, and what diameter is the gear hobbed on? There is a smaller diameter shaft size for that gear. I'm wondering if we can use that bronze gear for oil pumps on billet cams...

Somewhere in my treasures I have a bronze gear for a Slant oil pump. I think the Cox Bros. had them made.

When it gets light I will see if I have a SBC oil pump near the top of the pile.

If not this morning ....I will check after my ski lesson with my 3 yearold grand daughter,,,,

The outside dia of the gear is ~1 3/16.....it has 13 teeth

Measured and counted on a 7 pin EFI dist (as far as I know they are all the same)
