Car Model:
So I've had a 318 BBD for a while, and it does not have the notches in the throttle plate. I just got a new one, supposedly a super six carb, which of course it is not, but it will solve the issues I am trying to solve. However, it must be a 77 model, because it has the notches in the throttle plate. Now, the documentation everyone throws around about the super six and bbd and the changes in 77 say that these notches require a gasket without notches, and the base without the notches requires a gasket with notches. Logic, however, tells me otherwise. I am thinking all I need is the same gasket with notches. I would not want to use a non-notched gasket on a carb without notches, as this would block off vacuum, but a notched gasket shouldn't interfere with the notches on the throttle plate. I also looked up a number of gasket kits, and none of them have the non-notched gasket. The one I got for my 318 pre-77 bbd is the same kit as the one for the 77 bbd, so it has the same gasket.

So my feeling is that this Chrysler documentation was just being overly anal, and I won't have any problems. Am I wrong? If so, why?
