87' D100 truck can you disconnect the harness at the bulk head? I would like to remove the entire harness from the cab and engine bay...

Yes you can.
Should be a screw in the middle of the connector takes a 3/8" or 5/16" socket can't remember which.

I've loosened that screw...will the harness pull apart? Is it plugged in together right there at the bulk head?

Its gonna take some wiggling, pulling and probably a few curse words... Chances are it hasnt been apart in many, many years so dont expect it to release very easy! Theres going to be corrosion on the terminals, corrosion between the plastic bulk-head connector, and maybe even some heated/melted plastic on the connector, all of wich is going to hold it together pretty tight

I redid my wire harness in 2012 i did not encounter any corrosion on the terminals.
However it is a 50 pin terminal it will not just fall off it will need a little wiggling and some pulling as said above.

I seperated the wiring harness yesterday! I pulled from the engine bay side it looks like the cab side of the harness is held in by two plastic clips on the sides that you depress to remove from the cab frame...

Fortunely the wires were not corrodid so it wasn't too hard to seperate! Just wanted to add for anyone who does this in the future to try pulling from the engine bay side first after loosing the holding screw

Spray those ends with some "CorrosionX" while it's apart. The Coast Guard swears by this stuff......so do I. A very good product.

Early Dart Disorder (EDD) is real, and I've got it!

To recondition the connections. They corrode and burn over time....especially after 40 years!~
and or to repaint the engine bay.

Yeah and the insulation on the wire has a tendency to get brittle and fall off after 40 yrs.
Which is why I had to do my harness couple yrs ago.
