I have a 71 dart slant six. 7 1/4 rear and air shocks. I've noticed a fairly loud knock coming from the rear of the car. It is not consistent. I can hear it when I corner hard, accelerate, or just hit small bumps. Could it be a bearing? Or would it be in the suspension and breaks?

Breaks or Brakes?
My guess would be "Leaf-Spring Bushings".

does it sound like you just ran over a curb? when my rears were on their way out i would be cruising down the highway and hear a loud bang. i would check my mirrors and pull over to see if i hit something. turned out more then once it was the spider gears on their way out and binding.

Mine did that and it was the bearing . If it is that loud it will probably be easy to check , jack it up and see if it wiggles .

Well its a knocking and the rear end also has a lot of play in the gears so I'm going tomorrow to get a 8 3/4 rear for $400. It has 3.55 gears so that's going to be fun on the highway! But thanks for the input![/quote]
