About a month ago I replaced the stock on piece radius rod bushing installed in 2008, with the “upgradeâ€￾ or HD two piece B Body style bushings, and welded on lower control arm stiffening plates from Mancini Racing taking out some of the slop while at it. This install changed my alignment. I also have adjustable upper tubular control arms to help with a castor problem.

I’m chuckling over this; so today I took the Dart over to the guy that has aligned it two times previous due to new parts being installed. This time he let me hang out around the rack while working. As he attempts to attach the rear reflectors to the wheels he said; “I won’t be able to do this, they don’t fit…â€￾

“Gee Dave, they fit last year when I brought it inâ€￾, I said.

“Humm, if I drop one of these things… mumble, mumble, oh yeah, here we goâ€￾, and he hooks’em up; must have been having a senior moment (lord knows I have them every hour on a good day).

Anyway, after getting a lecture on cam bolt nuts facing the wrong way (been like that for four years; who knew), and how hard it is to tighten them up that way, blah, blah, blah. Some discussion over wanting more caster than manual calls for suddenly he said that won’t be a problem; left is at 2 13/16* and right 4 5/16*. This is a first with this car having this much positive caster. The first time I had it lined up in ‘08 it was -3* on one side and -6 on the other.

Long story short, he backed off the right side to 2 19/23*, tweaked the camber a wee bit, and set the toe to 1/8â€￾ or 1/16â€￾ per side.

50 bucks later I was out of there; car tracks real well. I credit the B body strut rod bushings for better placing of LCA. Can’t say if stiffening plates are doing anything or not; can’t hurt I guess with an anti sway bar installed.
