When Switching to an Electric Fan is it of any benefit to keep the Old Fan shroud that MA Mopar put around the thermostatic de-clutching fan from 1979?

A shroud properly fitted to the fan and radiator really helps the cooling. Now, whether you can get that one to fit the new fan is another question.

I wish I had room for a shrouded fan ...

Electric fans sit very close to the core and have their own shroud. If your removing the stock mechanical fan and clutch I see no reason to keep the stock shroud.
