hey! got a 1986 d150 with a bunk carb and i got one off of rock auto now i know there are obvious differences but what im wondering is if i can make it work? do i need all that electric crap? im new to the mechanical side of things and any help is appreciated!

No expert, still learning...

The original carb has a solenoid bowl vent that is computer controlled. The new carb has a vacuum controlled bowl vent. There are likely other differences, possibly vacuum advance. There are folks here that could rebuild these carbs blindfolded that will know.
