Somehow I managed to overtighten the passenger side front brake adjuster and ran out of light and patience trying to get it to back off. Any tips of tricks for getting one to back out? (Which way is loose would be helpful) It pulls hard to the tight now as the wheel no longer turns freely. Any suggestions?

I've done this one. The answer is to turn it the opposite direction it is stuck in... it's been a while, but I remember it being them the opposite of my expectation, clockwise to loosen.

Try again in the daylight and less frustrated.

If installed right, these normally tighten by inserting the adjusting tool (or a flat blade screwdriver) and pulling down... which would turn the star wheel upwards looking from the inside of the backing plate. So loosening would be turning the star wheel downward from the backing plate side. You will be fighting the automatic adjuster arm when you loosen the adjuster, so it will take more force to make it loosen.

If this won't work, then:
- loosen the wheel bearing nut a few turns
- loosen up the bleeder screw for a few seconds and tap the drum with a rubber mallet front and rear. (Then reclose the bleeder to keep air from entering.) This let's excess fluid out that is held in the wheel cylinders by the anti-flowback check valve in the master cylinder and should loosen the drum a bit.
- remove the drum and release the adjuster
