worked on the upper control arms this AM

https://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@ ... 347917740/

cut off the outer bushing sleeve, then used a combo of a 2 1/2 inch coupling and a bolt - nut - washers to pull the bushing out,, not at all diffcult once you get it figured out.. :D

removed the lower control arm pivot pins this evening

used a large bearing splitter combo'd with a mechanical press,,

the rubber bushing stayed behind,, they popped out with a screw driver,,
for the metal bushing that remains,, I saw an internet post that mentioned running 1 3/8 inch tap into the bushing,, then pressing the tap out to pull the bushing..
found a used tap like that on e bay,, I should have it to try early next week.

Very good article. That's what I used when I did this job.

If you can't extract that outer LCA sleeve with the tap you mentioned, and you've got a welder, you can also tack weld a large washer in there and drive it out with a press. If all else fails, like the article says you can *very carefully* plunge cut it with a sawzall.

the 1 3/8 tap arrived,,
set the tap in my bench vise then screwed the LCA bushing down on to the tap,, got about 4 threads in, then re set up the mechanical press..

https://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@ ... 411983377/

got that lower bushing out in minutes,, it pushed right out,,
then used a cut off saw to split the bushing to get it off the tap.

The ebay price on the tap was 14.99 + 4.95 shipping..
nice alternative for folks like me that don't weld
