Dear Dan-o and all,

I am looking at the Bilstein and Hotchkis shocks for my 64 Dart (street/track handling). I am looking for feedback and info on these two shock choices.

Dan-o, you mentioned that Hotchkis has the best shocks. I see two types, adjustable and non-adj. Care to comment on what you feel are the advantages or pros/cons of the Hotchkis shocks?

Thanks,

Lou

Sure thing. Hotchkis has really done a lot of homework in developing their shock program. They have been using not only track and street feedback, but also using shaker rigs to run simulations. During some of their testing they tested the new shock against the RCD's they used to sell and an OEM parts store shock.

Interesting stuff.

Is there anything available for F body Cars - Volares / Aspens?

That is the platform that I currently use ads my street and possibly some day track car.

Greg

It's a possibility. I'd have to get some pretty specific information and you'd probably have to pay a premium to get a custom set.

Thanks for the input. I know from road racing of the Tilleys in Australia that insufficient rebound was a recurring problem for them. Nice to see that seems to have been addressed.

It would be nice to know that the shocks are tuned to different cars and suspension types (mopar tbar vs. chevy coil), but maybe that is not so critical?

Best,
Lou

That is exactly what I was wondering! I have owned many different GM A-Bodies (mid sixties), and none had ride characteristics anything like the Chrysler A Body I own now.
