Post subject:  crank register question

I know the crank registers changed from small to large in 67-68

my 68 Barracuda's block is stamped PT 225 T 2667

thinking I may have a 67 block

the auto flex plate bore ID measures: 2 5/32 or 2.15 inches
the torque converter stub measure 1 67/128 or 1.52 inches
the crank register measures 2.15 OD

some disparity between the crank - flex plate bore and the torque converter snout,,the mounting bolts line up..

*is this an issue,,
** do I have a large or small register ?

Your answer on page 2 of the first part of the slant sickness article?

This does not sound right to me. 2.15" crank hub OD sounds like big hub, but I know that the small hub has a 1.555" ID. Big hub crank ID is 1.815". Are you sure the converter you measured fits the crank hub without play?

All 1968 model year cars should have big hub and all 1967 should be small hub. Measuring is of course the iron clad test...

thanks all for the replies,

must not be the original engine as the car was first titled in June of 68..

and 25 splines in the tranny end drive shaft connector

based upon the slant sickness article
lg 2.160 od and 1.850 id
sm 1.960 od and 1.530 id

just re checked and the crank od is 2.158
so it must be a large register crank,, makes sense with an engine build date in late 68,
however the torque converter snout measures 1.52xx

must be a large register crank combo'd with a small register torque converter,,

doesn't someone make an adapter to match up these registers?

thanks

John, I have those crank adapters available, as does Doug, and TF Patty.
