now that I have figured out that I have a 904 with a small register torque converter and a 68 truck motor with a large crank register in the 68 barracuda..

I have also found that WV has a 904 torque converter out of a 73 Duster that he will loan out,,

the engine of out of the barracuda, so the torque converter is right there,,

1) do I just pull (with hand pressure) the 67 converter off and slide the 73 one on?

2) since I will have the torque converter off, does that expose a front seal or anything else that should be serviced since I am there?

3) the 67 converter has a drain plug on the front of it,, so I'll drain it prior to removal,, guessing the 73 converter will be empty,, to refill a tranny-torque converter from empty,, put plenty of tranny fluid down the 904 dip stick tube then start the motor and re check -add to the proper level?

Sorry to say that these converters Do Not interchange because the 904's input shaft size and spline count changed.
( this is why the hole in the crank is bigger in 1968... because the nose on the converter got bigger when the 904's input shaft & matching converter hub inside, all got larger)

The early 904 (67 and older) have a 3/4 diameter shaft with 18 splines.
The 68 and up 904s have a 7/8 dia. shaft with 27 splines.

You can convert the early 904's input shaft to the larger one but that is a lot of work.
