When I removed the 13" rims from my 63 Valiant, I was surprised to see the difference in them. 3 of the 4 taken off appear to be "slotted" and the 4th not slotted. Is this the result of a prior owner installing rims from different years, or did the early Valiant and Darts use a couple different styles? Thank you in advance for your input.

Yesterday, I removed the 13" tires and rims from the front of my Valiant and replaced them with 14" rims wrapped with P185 75 R14 tires. This raised the front of my car 2 1/2"!

You may want to check spedo drive gear after changing diameter of tires to keep speedometer close to true.

Someone just mixed a newer rim in. The early wheels with the slots only clear the 9" drum. Later, when V8s were an option, they used a 10" drum that had clearance issues with the slotted rims; so the newer rims lost the slot.

So the newer rims can go both ways, the early rims are for 9" drums only.
