Post subject: | Throttle Cable End Clip At Accelerator Pedal End |
Just converted my 65 Dart Throttle Rod Linkage to 67 and up Cable Throttle Linkage system. It's functioning fine however I'm wondering if a clip is suppose to be used where the cable goes through the firewall into the bracket arrangement where the inner cable drops into the swinging arm. I have a rubber plug that retains the cable ball in the swing arm. There are two grooves in the cable outside body that suggest a clip might go to hold the cable at the firewall. |

Yes, if your have the 67-74 cable it has a circular clip that fits the grooves and retains the plug to the wall...75+ with the square plug uses a strip of metal through the plug to retain it.

Post subject: | Used E-Ring For Retainer |
Thank you for the prompt response. I found a 5/16 E-Ring which seemed to work as a retainer for the cable. First, from under the hood, I held the cable in a position with cable so that it was perpendicular to the firewall and pulled up against the firewall/accelerator bracket. Using needle nose pliers I was able to work the E-Ring into the outer slot from under the dash. DI-Thank You for your help Don |

If it doesn't hold I think you can also look at 90's minivans and 80's K-cars for a similar clip that might work also. |
