I have some aftermarket tie rods, they have a lock nut, not the bolt like the factory ones. I figure I'll use locktite on them for safety, but is the blue stuff sufficient? I try not to use the red unless I really have to 'cause it's either hard to get off or you have to heat the part and I don't like to heat aluminum if I can help it. thanks, Brian |

I wouldn't bother. Torque it to spec and be done. The shaft is a taper fit, any nut already is a safety. |

I think an easy compromise is to use the green penetrating one. Torque to spec like you suggest, then just a drop of green for peace of mind. |

It's not needed, but use the blue if you want too; no need for the red at all. I've never seen/had a properly torqued tie rod nut come loose, even in severe racing conditions (rallying). |
