I'm attempting a 3 speed to 4 speed conversion on a 62 Lancer. The transmission is an A-Body a833 cast iron. This is a little challenging since I've never worked on or with a manual transmission or really laid eyes on on one before.

So far, so good, but I'm puzzled by the linkage rods and the rectangular levers that attach to the rods. I've found multiple images online and they are not consistent. Do all the rectangular arms face up? Which short rod goes where? One has a bend toward one end and the other bends out and up.

Maybe all I need is a linkage diagram for this tranny and application?

Puzzled,
Barnaby

On a standard 4 speed the shift levers point up. On the overdrive units the 3-4 lever points down.

Thanks Josh, that clarifies a lot. Hopefully I'll have it installed tomorrow.
