A mouse apparently was thoughtless enough to die somewhere in the innards of the Dart. The smell is not overwhelming, but is there non-the-less. This happened once before with my Miata, and even though I thoroughly tore all removable panels out, never could find it. I think maybe I posted that event here. I am making liberal use of deodorant spray, but it is still annoying that it smells bad now. I cannot tell which general area it comes from. Any advice, or favorite deodorizers?

Had that happen once or twice...I usually pull the seats, sills and carpet and see if I can find the bugger....put the seats and lay out the carpet in some fresh air then clean the seats and use carpet freshener on the carpet...

On occasion during the winter, those guys tend to curl up on the heaterbox or the glove box...so if you want it gone before they turn into jerky, you'll want to pull them too...

One of our local guys swears by putting mothballs in the car during winter time storage, but I haven't had success with that yet...

We use mothballs in tipi and fabric storage. They work well.....it doesnt take much to do the job.

They also work on cats. ( propelled by slingshots in a case I observed)

We've had more problems in the past with scoring a car that has had mice or rats living in it, so it was littered with crap and the very acidic urine. A very nasty smell. They really like to nest in the heater box, so the first time you turn on your heater and fan on a cold night you get assaulted with stench. Good luck with finding your rodent carcass, hopefully you don't have to tear your whole car apart.

I have heard dryer sheets (2 in pass compartment, 1 in trunk) work well, and I usually do that when the car will sit for any length of time w/o driving.

I have unintentionally found that leaving an open bucket of radiator fluid in a corner of the garage is a great mousetrap. You should have heard me scream like a girl when I reached to fish out the "rag" that had fallen into the bucket of radiator fluid!

In my experience, the only cure for the mouse smell is to completely gut the interior, scrub everything, and throughly clean or replace anything going back in.

Pet stain killer of many brands, found in many stores will kill mouse smell if you don't prewash and just spray the crap out of any area the little bastards have been pissing, pooping, and dying. Follow label directions. Soap & water just spreads the misery.

Haha aint that the truth. I have three cats and no mice. Come to think of it I don't have any squirrels either and the birds are pretty scarce.
