Greetings,

I replaced the rear wheel cylinders and now no fluid is leaving the prop valve toward the rear.

Plenty of pedal because the fronts weren't touched.

Any tricks I am missing? Do I need to open the hydraulic section for the front ?

As always, thanks for your input and expertise!

Neil

does your prop valve have the little shuttle valve in it?

If so you can bleed off pressure to the front till it recentres itself.....or remove....recentre and reinstall.

Check that rubber lines have not rotted and blocked .

Thanks Sandy,

so if I crack the output side of the front hydraulic lines (and the prop valve is functioning correctly) it should recenter itself?

All the rubber is new, as I bought and installed a kit from musclecarresearch.com
https://www.musclecarresearch.com/mopar-seal-kit-2

I'll give it a try today and post results.

Greetings,

I ended up acquiring and using a K.H. valve to replace the Weatherhead valve. Here are my perceptions looking at the 2 units.

Both are disassembled in this link. Thanks musclecarresearch.com for excellent, rapid service on my order.

If you compare the two units, the K.H. shuttle valve has a spring both above and below the shuttle piston. I like this design, because gravity alone cannot force the shuttle piston down.

The Weatherhead unit had nothing below the piston, and (I think) gravity was dropping the piston down and closing off the flow of fluid to the rears (every time I stepped on the pedal trying to fill and bleed the rears). The o rings were all brand new, sized correctly, and bathed in brake fluid prior to assembly. My guess is that I was just experiencing a bit of bad luck during the bleed process.

Nice detective work. I wonder how many rear brakeless rigs are out there.....
