Man, that's a fire waiting to happen, why didn't you fix that when the motor was out? You wouldn't be having the problems you are. |

Um…the problem still needs fixing. You can get a new engine wiring harness for your '63 from www.evanswiring.com -- you'll want to have them add a fusible link. And yes, this needs to be a right-now priority before your car burns up. |

does the solenoid in the first picture need to be bolted down to get a ground connection to fire it? I can't remember. I also agree you need to rewire. my 73 had a wiring meltdown before I bought it and repairing it now will be much easier than repairing it if it fuses into an unrecognizable pile of rubber. |

There are No complete harnesses for a 63. The guy recommended above needs my harness to make one. I can get a universal harness for the car. |

So...send him your harness. Or buy a '64 harness from him, which will work either directly or with utterly minimal alteration. You do not have a choice here, you need a new wiring harness. |

I just contacted him, he won't do a complete harness, only engine and head lights. Any other ideas? Will a universal one work? |

All you appear to need is an engine harness. Have him make that one for you, with a fuselink added. Headlamps you can do up yourself as per here.

Also the piece that is going into the firewall isn't burnt, it's cracked off. But as far as the ballast resistor, how does it hook up? Any pics? |
