I did the fuel line mod per the forum posts and using the described fittings. The lower fitting that connects to the fuel pump leaks a little. The fuel pump is new.

It doesn't leak alot. But if I run my finger under it after running, I find some fuel.

I have tried tightening it, but I am afraid of pushing too hard because I don't want to strip it.

I was thinking about taking it off and installing with some Permatex Thread Sealant, but I hate to use that on a fuel line. I would rather get it sealed without sealant.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks, Craig

Probably a faulty hose-end fitting or a faulty fuel pump fitting. Try another hose-end fitting (or swap the fittings end-for-end on your new fuel line hose and see if the leak moves). Make sure there's no burr on the seat of any of the fittings. Thread sealant is "no". The threads don't make the seal; the seal is the flare joint held together by the tightened threads.

Make sure your fitting you used is the proper flare for the outlet on the pump.

I'm with Dan, check for proper flare match and for any little burrs on the sealing surfaces, some times there is just a little bit on there that can be smoothed to make it seal. You're right not to try the old fashioned, "crank her down" method, can easily strip those threads.

Dan was right - faulty end. The Edelmann 822550 fitting was not seating well to the fuel pump.

I ordered another one, but it came in the wrong size with a 1/4" fuel line end - I am sending that one back.

I went to the local parts store and they had an Edelmann 251550. It is a 5/16" x 5/16" x 4 1/2" long straight tube. I bent it to a 90 degree angle and it works well. This fitting has a double flared end that is a little thicker and seats onto the fuel pump well. No leaks!!

Thanks for the help guys.

Craig
