I'm going to post this here but it could go under fuel injection so move it if needed.I have an 86 D-100 rear wheel drive 4 spd. I have purchased a new to the market throttle body FI system. It requires a four barrel intake. I purchased a Clifford 4 brl intake from a member on here and this is where my dilemma comes in. I want to use the stock exhaust manifold and this intake is not designed to be bolted to the top of the stock exhaust manifold. Is the Clifford designed to be used with headers? Is there an older style stock exhaust manifold that does not have the heat flapper in it that requires the intake to be attached to the stock exhaust manifold. I need a solution A.S.A.P. Do any of you know of a slant 6 owner that is into racing and building race slant's that is close to North Carolina. I need someone I can call and consult with over the phone.
Thanks !

You need an Offy intake, that can still use the factory exhaust manifold. If you want to trade someone I'm sure you can get some takers. You must use headers with the Clifford.

Bolt a steel plate over the hole in the top of the exhaust manifold.

I hope this is doable, its my temporary plan with my 4 bbl Clifford, that I modified for port EFI. To the OP, general consensus here I believe is the Clifford is a better manifold, before you trade it, plus if its the model with the cast in efi injector bosses (really NOS?), you can later convert your efi to port injection, helping immensely with fuel distribution issues.

Actually it may not work as the water heated Clifford manifold probably intrudes into the exhaust manifold space. I blocked off the top of the exhaust manifold when I did a Super Six conversion in High School, but I also milled the hot spot off the bottom of the intake.

The Clifford is a better race manifold. An Offy is more street friendly.

Challenger I will seriously consider your offer. Your manifold is for a four barrel correct? Can you send me some photos of the Offy. Send to goncampn@hotmail.com or text me at 919-924-9672.
At this point I want to exhaust (no pun intended) all my options here. I am considering the Dutra Duals and waiting for Doug Dutra to respond to my email. Depending on where your at in N. Georgia I would not mind coming to you for an exchange if I decide to do it. Thanks and lets keep in touch.

slantzilla I am definetly looking for "more street friendly" than racing. I wish I would have known about the Offy being able to use the stock exhaust. By the way I'm from Peotone,Ill just down the road from you. I live in North Carolina now but still have family in that area.

I'm using a block off plate on an older non water heated Clifford intake (reworked for EFI) and a Chinese reproduction of a factory exhaust manifold. No fitment issues on this particular combo.
