Hi guys,

Has anyone recently tried to build a +0.085" or +0.104" Bore Engine Lately?

If so where are you getting Pistons?

THe Wiseco Catalog for 2018 only Lists +.025" and +.045" Pistons.

Whaddya think?

is it time for a group Buy to get some +.104's back on the shelves?

I'm up for some "+.104" pistons if we can get them with thin racing rings.

I decided to go with the .085's to have just a little more cylinder wall thickness and to allow me to bore to .104 in the future. Ryan did the same with his race motor. I think a group buy would be good. I'm not sure I can afford them right now since I just retired.

I got mine from Ross, but they are custom. Ross does nice work, but ask prices BEFORE you hit the buy button.

Hi Dennis,

Can you say a little bit about why you went with Ross? I am looking at custom pistons for a new stroker motor. It will be a "Lou" motor, meaning I will drive it 1000s of miles on the street, make passes on the strip, and run some twisty stuff.

Thanks!
Lou

How long ago did you order from ross Dennis?

And what bore size did you go with?

Mine are +.100" flat top, thick deck forged nitrous pistons for a 6.7" rod with the pin moved down .100". It has a thin race ring package and a Slant wrist pin. On an uncut block they should be about -.080" in the hole and give roughly 9.5-1 compression.

It is a standard Chevy 3.5" blank and would have been $60 each, but for some reason they hit me $40 each for moving the pin.

They are absolutely beautiful all wrapped up in the box.

We used Ross because that was who Mike was using at the time. I am guessing I got them 10 years ago.

Does anyone have a current contact at Wiesco we could contact. I know Brian Nutter worked with Rob on the first round but he left there shortly after that. Seems like maybe he sent me a "Deptartment" or group within Wiesco to ask for after he left. That was on my old computer though and I will have to do some searching to see if I have it still.

Sorry to divert the thread, but would anyone interested be in some 1.2" compression height pistons likely in 3.504" bore? I am thinking of getting 2 sets made for 198 crank + 170 block and stroker 225 projects I am working toward. Not right away, but down the road a little...

I am likely going to use Slant 6 pin size, but I could switch to another size as I will need custom rods anyway.

Thanks for the Wiseco info, Rick!

If you go to a smaller pin like a Ford, you end up with a lighter pin, and a touch more room on the piston for the ring pack.
