Hey all bought a 225. Here is what i was given for its history. Out of a 1971 Cuda 39k mileage ( highly suspect ), has G 225 R stamped on block deck edge near fuel pump area. Ive searched like crazy but do figure its a 225 but thats it. Here are some pics. Valve train and rockers are filthy but bolts on manifolds undo easy and the outside is fairly clean. Not sure where its going yet and what it neefs. Last run summer 2017. |

I think you mean G 225 R 4 20G: 1971 model year 225: Engine displacement R: Passenger car engine 4 20: Engine built on 20 April 1971 Quote: maltese cross symbol ( undersized factory mains .010)
Actually, a maltese cross means the engine was built with one or more rod and/or main bearing(s) 0.010" undersize. Which one(s) will be stamped on the crankshaft. If there were a maltese cross with an X behind it, that would mean the engine was built with all the rod bearings and/or all the main bearings. Quote: ID # 1B369873
Where did you find this number?

Your 1B369873 is the last part of a VIN for a 1971 car built at Dodge Main (Hamtramck, Michigan). The complete VIN for a '71 Barracuda would've been along the lines of BL23C1B369873. No way to tell which engine plant put this engine together. Could've been Trenton, could've been Mound Road, could've been Windsor. |

Hi Dan and thanx. But definitely a USA built car for the US not Canada. No way to tell which engine plant put this engine together. Could've been Trenton, could've been Mound Road, could've been Windsor. This car was found in So Cal.and brought to Winnipeg years ago. With 39 k on the odometer which im highly skeptical of... |

That doesn't make any difference to where the engine (or the car, for that matter) was built. The Auto Pact of 1965 integrated the US and Canadian markets for vehicles and parts; many engines and vehicles destined for first sale in the US were built in Canada.

The 1971 225 is rated at 145 gross HP and 8.4 to 1 compression. Is this accurate or over rated? |
