I talked to Mike Evans today, he asked about the possibility of having an official slant 6 race at the Cedar Falls, IA Mopar event on August 24-25. I told him that I wasn't really involved in such things anymore, but I thought that it probably wouldn't be possible on such short notice. I know this was discussed in relation of Mark Goodman's request to have an official slant 6 race at the Tulsa Mopar event in November. I told him I would float the idea on the forum and see what people said. Would this still be possible, and if so are there others interested who might attend?

I should be there, I also believe Flyin' Ryan wants to bring his hair dryer down too.

I think the main interest is wanting to set records rather than gaining points. Not sure anyone being there is a threat to the points race anyway, unless those Green guys would make the trip.

He's posted on Facebook that he's driving it on the street now on E-85.

Well......this did not go as planned.

Got to the Evans ranch Friday afternoon as scheduled, and we headed off to Cedar Falls. Got in and unloaded. Cedar Falls is a nice track. 1/4 mile, all grass pits, and really clean.

We start making time runs. Mike is changing jetting on his and I have decided that I will leave mine alone. Mike made 9 time runs with I believe a best of 14:66@90.

I made 3. last one was a 13:11@100 with a .003 light.

Saturday morning we get there and get unloaded. I make a hit and get a 13:12@100. Make my second one later and get a 13:12@100. I know what I'm dialing.

I get to the fence to watch Mike and he comes by sounding like the car is on a decent pass, but it shuts off right before the trap. Little while later he comes back on the tow strap. :( Mike says it started making noise so he shut it off. Quick check and it appears to have broken a timing chain.

I dial 13:12 and head up for class. I draw a Dart dialed 10:10. I leave with a green on the tree, have the guy bus lengthed at the other end and dump him. His win light comes on.

Pick up my time slip and I went -.027 red to his .200. :? This was my first experience on a True-Start system. Red lights don't display until both cars have left. To top it off, my car left an oil trail going back on the trailer. It's coming from the oil filter/pump area, hopefully it's not too serious.
