Almost dead #3 hole. Compression 135+ New plug & wire. Plug sooty. Any thoughts?

135 lbs dead? Sounds good to me unless you have 150+ in the others. Even then I wouldn't worry about it. Could just be a bad plug. Toss a new one in and see what happens. Remote possibility: cracked distributer cap.

Yea, deffinately check cap for chips/corrosion if it is only one dead cylinder.
