The PVGP hosted it's Countryside Tour in Westmoreland County PA today, 7-23-20

I Did the Tour last year and was able to convince one more of the slant 6 brethren to commit for the event this year. It

My Friend Lou and I Participated in Slant 6 Prepped Vehicles. We were probably the sore thumbs in the group of smaller, Nimble Alfas, Triumphs, Porsches, Minis, TVR's and Jaguars, But as usual We Kept up and Had a Blast!

We are looking for more slant minded grand tourers to join us for next year!

You are welcome to join... but I don't know if you have a car for it... Will also try to tempt the guy you sold your car to!!

We need a few skilled navigators too, and maybe we could run the Rally next year as well?? The 62 will be even better next time.

Speeding is quite different in PA than VA since the police don't use radar and only funny little marked sections on the road and timing.

Thanks again Greg for the great time.

Ciao,
Lou

I'm imagining the conversation pictured above as Lou messes with the heads of a couple of E-type pilots:
"Do you have any spare cylinder heads? You know they will fit on a Slant Six with only minor..."

I'd love to be part of it next time if I can work it out 8)

I can give you all the pertinent info.

We would love to have you Joe, and some others if possible.

I am not sure if you have a car setup at this point for the event.. but if not we need navigators to read out the pace notes as well.

Pm me if you wish and we can call / talk more about it!

That looks like a LOT of fun. Ah, the joys of having a finished, driving car.....
I am surprised the Grun Holle wasn't there.
Both cars are looking great.

I guess I could have taken it but would have to run with the slower group.

Hope to have Grüne Hölle there next year once some more things are sorted and the engine is built!

Would you like to be a navigator if you dont have a var to bring?

Greg

I have to say, Lou has transformed the '62 into quite a classy looking car.

Thanks, guys. The wheels and stance really seem to work. Heading back in the 62 to Bburg from NC today and then up to WI to see Chris' sister and my family.

I ran the Countryside tour again - It was a blast.. I was asked to be a group leader which was also fun as I had additional time to access the route and pace notes.

I was the only Slant 6 /MoPar in attendance this year... they keep letting hang with the Mg's and Triumphs, Morgans and sunbeams...which I enjoy too!

Had a fantastic time as usual!

Got Up Early and Cleaned the car a bit with a clear sky / sun with a smoke haze from the western and Canadian wildfires..
Image

At the First Stop I got word that the sunbeam in my group had some mechanical issues with the fan and the radiator trying to occupy the same area. :-(

So we were down to 3 in my run group for the rest of the tour..

Some shots from the first stop..

Rest of the evening went fine without a problem. and Made it to the farm for lunch.

Also Stopped at the Waterfront - (site of the 1898? Homestead steel strike) PVGP had a a car cruise there Tuesday nite.. for some glamour shots in front of the old steel mill stacks..

It looks like I did not update this for 2022 and 2023.

For the 2024 edition, I was a group leader again, this time with a 3rd different MoPar in say ~6 years. I don't remember what year I began running this tour.

This year I took the '62 Valiant Wagon, to do some proper flogging on the car as my '64 Dart is still out of commission until I get motivated to begin working on it.
Image

This year in our driving group, It was all British cars and the '62 Valiant. The group consisted of a '62 XKE, a MGB, and an Austin-Healey Sprite.
Image
Image
Image

We traveled about 200 miles of back roads, crossing over the mountain ridges a few times.
We found at the first stop that the Sprite had loose manifold nuts causing a vacuum leak, The MG Driver somehow had an extra fine thread nut and a washer, got things tightened and then we were back on our way.

There is always an eclectic mix of cars at this event. Since we had a bit of a longer route than some of the other participants, we left earlier and I did not get a bunch of pictures this year.
