Hey guys,

Just wanted to say hello as I am new on the board here.
Me, 34 years, born and living in Switzerland, bought my Valiant '67 (swiss finish) last month.
This is my first Mopar, just drove french cars until then.
I'm in love with this beauty, but just found out that there are some serious motor problems (almost no compression on cyl. 3,4 and 6).
But that's another story, so I will open another thread...

Hello and welcome! Before you get too worried about no compression, check the valve lash. If the clearances are too small the cylinders won't build pressure.

Welcome! Before doing anything else to the engine, please adjust the valve lash (clearance). That can cause low compression and the adjustment is almost free.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the warm welcome. The Slant Six I found is in good / very good condition, which was approved by the vehicle inspection a few months ago. The car has a little more than 60'000 miles running, and when I look at the interior this mileage seems to be authentic.
Here in Switzerland prices for oldtimers are more and more increasing, especially for the inspected ones. So I was surprised that this beauty didn't find a new owner untill I decided to buy it. I had a lot of time (months) to think about it, and there was no one else who wanted to buy... Think this one just was waiting for me.
Maybe because it's not a V8, most of the people just search for this kind of motors when they buy cars american branded.
Well, now I'm the lucky guy I guess, and pedestrians are turning heads when I cruise around.

Many thanks to all of you for the informations about the valve adjustment. I also thought about this, will check this first for shure. Tanks for the informative link SlantSixDan!

Thanks Lou.

Yesterday i was adjusting the valve lash, now the slant is running much smoother than before. I will now check the compression again...
If you're interrested in detailled pics on what I do on this beauty (refurbishing / replacing parts), I will open a new thread for that. I'm sure you guys also can give me good advices from time to time...

Here's a little update about my motor.
The compression test after checking the valve lash was not that satisfying, so i had no other choice than remove the cylinder head.
I saw, that not a long time ago, someone else replaced the head gasket and the valves . But the valve seats didn't look that great. If I had replaced the valves by myself, i would have replaced the seats too.

So i did my best and grinded the valves and seats with professional tools.
You can see in the picture down below what came out: First measuring, after setting the valve lash, and after my work with the valves.

In near future I will replace the valve seats. If you have any recommendations where to buy the parts (Valves, seats, stem seals etc.) which can be shipped to Europe, I would be thankful for that.

Long time no see...
Sold the '67 Valiant and bought a 1980 Volaré. This one was imported from Canada as a new car. I'm the third owner. About 43'000 miles running now. It's a nice cruiser with automatic transmission, cruise control, etc...

Looking for some park lights (left one or both) at the moment, anybody selling some of these here in the forum?

Hello, and welcome back! Nice F you have got there.

I would prefer the '67 Valiant myself, after owning 4 F bodies over the years etc. but I am glad you like that one.

Which parking light lens do you need?

Left front or left rear? or Taillight Left rear?

I might suggest putting an ad on the parts wanted section, also Checking out Mexican Spec, as He makes a lot of these new.

The Left Rear Brake / Tail housing is the same as '79 Volare' - easy interchange. and the Left Rear Side Marker is the same as many other mopars back to 1972 or so.

The Left front is unique to 1980 Volare' / Aspen and will be harder to find. I have no spares to offer you. Good luck!
