Final 2022 Slant 6 MAKEUP RACE info:

October 28 and 29 at Motormile Dragway in Fairlawn (Radford), VA.

https://www.motormiledragway.com/

1/8th mile racing on Friday evening and Saturday day.

Friday 10/28: Gates open 5 PM, time runs at 6 PM, and eliminations will begin around 7 PM.

Saturday 10/29: Gates open 3 PM, time runs at 5 PM, and eliminations start shortly after.

Race coordinator is Lou Madsen - 540-818-8712.

I can host a few racers at my house for those who would like free lodging (20-25 min from track). Just let me know! There are many hotels in Dublin, VA (10 min) and in Radford/Fairlawn, VA (5-10 min).

Saturday we will have a dinner at my house in Blacksburg for all the racers.

Hope we can have a big turnout for the last race of the year!

Edit by Charrlie_S: Just for info, the track is having a race on Sunday, also. Not a slant six event, but that would make 3 days of racing for those so inclined.

Lou Madsen

ROLL CALL:
1) Rick Covalt- Trying to get someone to come with my truck also. (Ryan can't come)
2) Mark Charapich
3) Lou Madsen (Maybe 2 cars?)
4) Greg Ondayko
5) Charlie Schmid
6) Rodney Hargis?
7) Brian Mimken?
8) ?

Sounds great Lou!. I have the awards for the one race, that was the Mason Dixon rain out. Plus a little money towards the purse. For those that don't know, we were unable to get a 2 day race in at Mason Dixon. So we will have this at Motormile, plus it is more centrally located for the people down south. Looking forward to it! Let's have a great turn out. With 4 races to go the championship is still up for grabs! :D :D

I plan to be there!

I wonder if this should be posted in the event calendar as a "Roll Call"?

Is there Race fuel Available at the track?

I was not able to find any of that information on their website.

thank you,

Also How many total "Races" will be run?

There were 3 Races rained out this year and 2 more that were cancelled.

Greg

Good idea to get this into the Event calendar. Can it be moved? I didn't even notice it was in the social corner.

I think we have to ask one of the moderators real nice.

The social corner is not available to be seen by anyone not logged in.

Oops! Sorry about that. Hopefully Charlie or another "super moderator" can move this thread. Or, I can just copy the first post and put it in Events and start a roll call...

Dear Slanters,

UPDATE: Went to t'n't Fri night at Motormile and met Daniel Via in person. He said there is a change to the Oct 28-29 weekend. They needed to switch to run a "No Prep" race. Are we still OK with running this? I am fine with it. He said we could move to Oct 21, but I think many of us have planned for the 28th and it will be hard to switch.

Let me know if you have an objection to staying with Oct 28-29 but running no "sticky prep".

Nice guy, and it should be fun to run in any case!

Lou

There is no way I could make the weekend of the 21st. The following weekend is still a maybe, as the car is still not running. Still working on it, in between real life stuff. Exactly what is no prep?

I cannot make the 21st.

No prep means no traction compound/ goo/ rosin dust/ stickum applied to the racing surface.

Like street racing.

If I get the car done I guess I'm OK with that. I don't make as much power as some of you other people, but I run a narrow slick (7x26). I can see if I can borrow a set of wider tires, just in case. Maybe bring my 8x23x13's.

Hope to have the new fuel system done today and the car running
