I was not sure where to put this, so Engines is where it goes.
I stumbled on this today and it was interesting to me.
EP on TV and Facebook is doing a slant build.
They have posted quite a few pictures of the build on FB.
They have an AussieSpeed intake modified by Gill Welding for FI.
They have machined a spacer for the head they are using to use the more common Valve Cover.
They are using the expensive Yellow Terra roller rockers.
They machined spacers to use a forged crank in the cast block.
They created an adapter to center the Holley mag trigger wheel on a damper.
Anyway a lot of slant based work being done.

I'll be interested to see if they get much out of it. It mostly depends on their head porting person, and if they know anything about cam specs and where to degree it for a 225. So far, about the only magazine/enginebuilder/hotshot Slant buildup worth a $hit was when Steve Magnante teamed up with Doug Dutra in the late 90s. Rich Nedbal at Mopar Engines West (right?) also did a stout Slant for Romeo Furio in the early 2000s that was big bucks but very good. Not really a magazine buildup, although the car was in a mag or two and Romeo fed in some . That engine is still performing well in Brian Droschak's Dart (formerly Romeo's). Nothing else I can recall has done anything substantial before or since, which is annoying. If they would take 10 minutes and just ask for help/advice, their buildups would turn out a lot better. I'm always prepared to be surprised and impressed!

Yeah, the LS head gave me pause, so thanks for the April Fools exposay, ProCycle!

I read they were sticking with stock valve sizes...
Seems like a lot of trouble and expense to build a performance motor yet skip this well proven mod.
And also modified the 'cast crank' block to fit a forged crank. Seems like questionable decisions with no real advantage to doing it that way.

I seem to recall reading something about Steve Nitti's engine in a magazine. I think SharaDon Performance in Hugo, MN had a hand in that.

engine powers last slant build was a Turd.... they dont seem to be doing a great deal better with this one and their lack of information makes me think they didnt do a ton of research. from the teasers on bookface , my guess is its getting some boost.

It looks as though they did piles of custom work that has to cost a lot of $$$ and yet skimped on a set of oversized valves that would only add a couple hundred bucks to the job and produce the best bang for their buck.

I have to ask, why in the hell would you go through the expense of machining spacers to put a forged crank in a cast block? That seems like you're just creating more chances for problems. It's not like the world has run out of forged blocks.

There was a guy on Facebook yesterday asking if anyone had put a forged crank in a cast block. He must have seen this silliness.

Sounds like Uncle Tony who made a lot of pronouncements on how to build a slant 6 and when it didn't work out so well, decided to change the parameters on Plan Z ( his last Plan Z video).

I often wonder what would happen if I studied a little and built an LS or a 3rd gen Hemi or a BMW M3 engine. I bet it would be pretty fast, relative to what is out there.... I think most people do not want to study and just want to throw stuff together. You can build an LS that is pretty fast and put in no thought. Building a neglected engine w/o much development is a whole different story...
