Post subject: Carb on a 86 Dodge D150

How do I tell what carburetor is on my Dodge D150? I searched the serial number I found, but google came up short on it. I understand from reading a few threads on here that perhaps it is a Holley 1945, or at least that is a common one. What is the difference. Also, this is the first older auto I have owned. I want to learn how to take care of it and auto repair/maintenance more generally. Any tips, resources, or advice for a newbie?
