Working on my '62 Block Here..

What Year Did Chrysler switch from the Larger Cam Plug at the rear of the block to the 2 9/64"Ø plug(Dorman 555-065) from the larger plug?

(excerpt from my '62 valiant restoration blog below)
I had a feeling that I would need the original Cam plug for the back of the block, so I saved it. I had this happen to me before when I was working on a '64 Truck block a while ago - some of the early blocks are machined for a larger rear cam plug - meaning the 2 9/64" Ø - Dorman 555-065 Plugs do not fit. - Too Small. My guess is the early cast iron blocks (this is a '62 Block) and the AL blocks use this larger plug?

Looks like new plug ø for '63 on the iron blocks. That would make sense, because it corresponds to the new iron block casting numbers for '63—and that mysterious conrod oil hole about-face we were talking about.

Why not just buy new? Last line item here in brass, for example, or fourth up from the bottom here in stainless.
