Talk about a "paper" car...........

Paper car refers to a combination that was never available that shows up in Stock or Super Stock.

Very cool. Why not available? I thought the Hyperpaks were dealer installed, so why not a wagon? Just curious.

Interesting, I occasionally raced at Englishtown back in the '60's. Early '60's with a 63 Ford Galaxy, later '60's a 60 Chevy Biscayne. Maybe that's why I don't recall that car. Didn't start racing Mopars until the mid '70's.

It showed up in the NHRA classification charts early in the 60's.
That was the plan for my Lancer wagon years ago when I got it.

I have the gents name, going to try and contact him.

I don't think I would have tried that 3 speed though.
Can you imagine the clutches he burnt up.

I will try to find another picture.

Was there ever a 4 speed available in the early Toads?

A 170 wagon in O/S seems to be a pretty tough row to hoe.

No, Chrysler four speeds did not arrive until 1964 with the development and introduction of the a833

If I remember correctly some larger (probably B / C bodys) were available from the factory with pont a mousson french 4-speed transmission.

here is some more research on the subject:

I have never seen anything saying anything like no Hyper Paks on wagons; the only exclusion I ever saw was no Hyper Paks on automatics. Which makes sense because very high idle speed to accommodate the HP camshaft would make a car with an automatic unsafe/uncontrollable.

None of the parts in the Hyper Pak kit has any way of knowing or caring how many doors has the car they're installed in.

Because the HP kits were dealer/customer installed. Stock and SS had to be factory built. Since it turned up in the Guide somebody at Chrysler had to write a letter, hence the term "paper car".

Mopar was well known for "ringer" cars, but they were not the only ones. It still goes on today.

As far as the automatic warning, I remember seeing that in the factory documentation.
When I did my wagon, I was not sure how it was going to work.
I used a stock automatic throttle rod and lengthen it.
It all worked great.
But autos in the early 60 were still kind of a mystery.

Plus the Hyperpak cam is not large by any standard except "larger " than stock. I run a bigger cam than that in my full size truck right now.
