Hey,

So I'm having trouble starting the car, and after removing both hoses from the Fuel Pump (the fuel pump is only like 6 months old, btw), it appears that fuel is not reaching the fuel pump.

I'm curious: could it be that the line is plugged? Is there anything else that could be stopping fuel from getting to the fuel pump?

There's at least 5 recent gallons in the tank, and nothing.

I'm considering getting a big air compressor to blow out the lines, but wanted to make sure there aren't any common issues I know in regards to this.

I thought I had a starting issue, but when I pour fuel down the carb, the car starts quick and easy. But when I removed the line from the tank to the fuel pump, nothing dripped, and it appears dry.

What gives?

Thanks in advance to anyone with some ideas.

The next thing I would check is the short rubber line at the fuel tank. I have seen them go bad (suck air) but not leak fuel. Be careful if you use air. Make sure the fuel cap is removed, and don't use more than about 15-20 lbs pressure. It is also possible you have a pin hole in the metal line.

Also, check to be sure the sock on the fuel sender isn't clogged.

Also just because the fuel pump is new, doesn't mean it is good. I had 3 bad pumps for my wifes 318 that were bad out of the box (even from different stores). They worked but would not pump enough fuel where you could kick down into passing gear at 50 mph. I made a fix, and 2 years later got another pump (same brand/same store) that was fine. It seems like one factory was making all of them and putting them in different boxes, and they had a bad run.
A few years ago I would have suggested disconnecting the fuel line from the inlet of the fuel pump, and hooking up a small electric pump (temporary), to see if it will draw from the tank, but those pumps have gotten expensive.
