Have an 1985 D150. Came with the idiot light for oil and temp. Bought what I believe to be a 1987 full cluster with gauges for oil and temp. Even though the connections look similar, it is not plug and play as hoped. Should I be looking at changing out sending units? Just need some detailed direction. Thanks!

You will need to get the sending units for the oil pressure gauge and coolant temp gauge. You will then need to get a factory service manual and compare the wiring diagrams for the guages vs. the lights wiring harnesses and make any modifications necessary.

Casually looking for a Clifford hyperpak intake for cheap.

My 84 D-100 had idiot lights. Not sure what gauges I swapped in but I think they were either 84 or 88 gauges using the stock 84 cluster assembly. All the wiring was the same. Had to swap out the senders/sensors to the gauge type.
