Wanted to share a build i recently did that worked, not what I thought it would, but worked lol. Ran 17.2 sec 1/4 mile fastest. After adding nittro Ran slower and slower every pass. Im pretty sure I was running out of ignition and spark plugs were burning up. If I were to do it again I would run more compression. And different cam mine was topping out at 4500rpms and then falling on its face. Below is the build sheet. It was a really cool build if anyone has questions about it and want to do it yourself it has potential to be a easy power adder to the slant. Spent a total of $3k on build honestly pretty cheap for a setup that boost power alot for drag racing

Methanol 225ci slant six with 20% nittro
10.47:1 c/r
Competition products 2bbl 500cfm methanol carb
1.44 ex 1.7 intake valves
Stock pistons
Moly rings gapped at .018
Forged crank
Stock rods
Arp head studs
Steel shim head gasket
Stock distrubitor with petronix
Ran around 36 degrees total timing
Stock plugs gapped Stock
Jets at 3000ft elevation was 146 mains with methanol 150 with nittro mix
904 torqueflite
Stock rear gears

Can you provide more info on the head, Cam, overall vehicle weight with driver, and Rear axle ratio, please?

This seems like a warmed-over stock engine of sorts.

17's are adequate, but not fast by any means. I think there is a lot of potential there, but you may be missing the point without addressing the head and cam, and ignition timing curves.

My Daily Driver EFI'd,79 Volare Duster will run about those times with a stock 1979 Super six cam and 3.23 Gears, a-833 on Pump 89 with ~9.5:1 Compression. I would guess the car weighs ~3400-3600#

I am sure other experts in alternative fuels may chime in Charrlie, Lou, Dennis?

Good Luck,

Greg

just curious. You state the engine "was topping out at 4500rpms and then falling on its face." What is your max RPM target? The 225 is not a modern era high rev engine and won't ever be high rev without a lot of work.

I am curious about what the intended usage of this build is. And what is it in?
