Can someone walk me through the brake lights on my Valiant. As you know electrical is not my strong point.
Should I have power to the brake light switch all the time? (Pink wire) Then when the brake is pushed the switch sends power out to the brake lights? Or does this switch work off a ground? I do have turn signals but no brake lights. I had the steering column and brake pedal..etc out for my 4 speed swap last month. Thanks

The lights work by switching on 12V from a switch at the front of the car (TS switch or brake switch). The TS and brake use the same filament in the bulb. My first guess is that your brake light switch on the brake pedal is misadjusted or bad.

Thanks Lou! I found a broken wire going to the Brake light switch.

So, instead of a "short", you had a "long".
