finally got a lead on a used offy 4bbl setup with a 390 carb, but i have some questions before i pursue it further::

1) are there any special throttle/kick down linkages needed for the 4bl carb?
2) is there a difference between stock 1bbl and 2bbl exhaust manifolds??

my car is currently a 1bbl, if the 2bbl SS manifold was better flowing then id rather have that. ideally id like to get a set of dutra duals, but thats not in the budget just yet.

thanks in advance - mike

1) Depending on the length of your existing throttle cable, you may be able to use it in the swap, but you will need to fabricate a new hold-down bracket for it. If you have an automatic tranny, you will also need to either fabricate up a kickdown setup, or get a kickdown cable from Lokar or Mancini Racing (Lokar's was cheaper last I saw) DO NOT drive an auto trans w/o a kickdown linkage hooked up--it will burn up the tranny.

2) AFAIK, 1 bbl and 2 bbl exhaust manny's are the same with the exception of the choke pocket. The 2 bbl outlet may be angled slightly differently than the 1 bbl, but does not flow more than a 1 bbl manifold.

When I had the clifford 4barrel and 390cfm holley on my car, I used both lokar throttle and kickdown cables with their 4barrel bracket. Worked like a charm and didn't have to fuss with anything. The setup is very versatile, in the future if you ever decide to use a different carb or go efi even all you need is one hole on top of the carb linkage and one below, and your set.

I know the dual offy 1 barrel manifold came with throttle linkage to connect the carbs together but I haven't heard anything about linkage with the 4barrel manifold.

I have just converted my slant six from one brl to 4 brl. I used the offy 4 brl. manifold and the holley 390 cfm and it works together perfectly. The throttle linkage if cable will work with home made linkage. any kickdown linkage you may need for a automatic you can find at jc whitney.

The drivability is great. when using the kickdown linkage from jc whitney, All I had to do is adjust the kick down accordingly to my driving habbits. Yes I am using the stock cam. I am having problems with the vacume secondaries not wanting to kick in so I'm going to start experamenting with the secondary vacume springs.
