My turn signals only work if I blink them manually. What part do I need to replace to make them blink automatically? Where can I get the part? Thanks for any help.

This could be one of two things: either you have burnt out signal bulbs or you have a worn out flasher unit. All of these are available form your local auto parts store for a pittance. Do a manual check on all of your exterior bulbs to verify tha they work and if they do replace the flasher unit.

Thanks Reed. The lights do work, they just don't blink. Where is the flasher unit located?

The signal flasher on my 71 duster was under the dashboard, to the right of the radio but left of the glovebox. It's on the bottom lip, so if you curl your fingers around the bottom of hte dash and slide them along you should feel it. The flasher unit itself is cylindrical, and is held onto the dash with a circular clip, has a 2 wire harness lead coming out of it.

If the signal lights just come on but don't flash when you activate a signal, check all the grounds on the light sockets. I recently had this problem to where my left turnsignal would flash just fine, but when activating the right signals, all 3 lights (idicator in girll, indicator in dash, and rear taillight) caem on but didn't flash. I cleaned up the socket for the rear taillight bulb and they all flashed again. Apparently the ground was passing enough current to turn the lights on but not enough to activate the flasher. Those flashers themselves are demanding...

I had the same problem pierre had but it was the front turnsignal. I wire brushed it out with a dremmel and works great now.

I was running circles trying to figure out what was wrong... then someone noticed that my rear right brakelight was slightly dimmer then left so I went to go check the socket out and there it was....
