The new 225 is in and running great. Well almost...I'm having some timing and idle issues. If I set the timing at TDC (per the book), I have to set the idle screw pretty much all the way in to keep it from stalling, especially when I put it in gear. The carb is the original stock Holley 1920 and the dist. is original stock (points) as well. I have no idea if anything has been done to either of them in the past. What should I check or do to get the timing and idle right? Thanks in advance! :D

I would put more initial timing / advance into it.
Most Slants like 8-10 degrees BTDC.
Test drive and retard the timing if you hear it ping.
